Description:

Introducing our lovely family from Walnut Creek, California! They have two adorable boys: a 4-month-old smiley infant and an almost 2-year-old. The older child attends daycare full-time, and the mother takes care of drop-offs and pick-ups. The nanny’s main focus will be providing personalized care for their youngest child. The family is seeking a dedicated nanny who can commit to them for at least a year, with a potential extension to two years.

They believe it’s important to hire a professional nanny who can offer undivided care and attention to their preemie son. On occasion mom and dad do work from home, but the nanny would primarily care for their son independently.

The family resides within walking distance of a large park and a community center that hosts a music class for babies. The family seeks a candidate who desires to plan enrichment activities and outings that promote the growth and development of their son, including spending time outside, at music class, or when the child is older, to library events or other toddler classes.

As the nanny, your responsibilities will include nurturing care, such as feeding (bottle and introducing solids), preparing purées and solids as the child becomes capable of eating new foods, diaper changing, establishing nap routines, and engaging in age-appropriate activities. Although the child is overall healthy, it is important to pay attention to whenever the child has a fever since the child needs to get a special test for bladder infections whenever he has a fever.

Light housekeeping duties related to the children’s care, such as cleaning up after meals and maintaining a tidy play area, are also part of the role. Additionally, when mom or dad is not working from home, you’ll take care of the family’s two dogs by letting them outside in the small gated area midday. They will otherwise be in the parents’ room where they like to nap during the day so they will not be underfoot while you are with the child.

The family would appreciate occasional assistance with the older child if he needs to be home from daycare because it is closed or he is sick. Though rare, there may also be occasional care required for the older child when necessary, with additional compensation provided. We seek a candidate who is open to discussing these scenarios and planning the compensation for these instances.

To be the ideal candidate for this position, you should have at least 10 years of experience as a nanny or in a child care center. You must hold a valid CPR certification and have received the necessary vaccinations for TB, TDAP, COVID, and the flu. A valid driver’s license with a safe driving record is required. Fluency in English is essential, and bilingualism is a plus.

Maintaining a safe environment for the child and following safety protocols is crucial. A background check with no criminal history is mandatory. You must be willing to be paid through payroll with taxes withheld and provide excellent references from previous childcare experiences.

The family is offering Industry Benefits consisting of 5 sick days and 10 vacation days, as accrued (1 sick day and 1 vacation day per month), and the following paid holidays: New Year’s Day, MLK Day, President’s Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Christmas Eve, and Christmas.
