Is BYOC™ really free?+
Joining BYOC™ is free — there is no enrollment fee, no retainer, and no placement fee. You only pay for the individual services you select, such as a background check, reference checks, work agreement, or payroll setup. Our team will walk you through pricing when we follow up after your submission.
Does my candidate need to know I'm submitting their information?+
Yes — your candidate should be aware that you are engaging Hello Nanny! for agency support services, particularly for background checks and reference checks, which require their consent. Our team will guide you on how to communicate this to your candidate appropriately.
Do I have to use all the services?+
Not at all. BYOC™ is completely à la carte. Some families only need a background check. Others want the full package — vetting, work agreement, payroll setup, and onboarding. You choose exactly what makes sense for your situation, and you only pay for what you select.
What does W-2 employment mean and why does it matter?+
By law, household employees in the United States must be hired as W-2 employees — not independent contractors. This means withholding taxes, complying with employment laws, and handling payroll correctly. Families who hire above board see significantly lower turnover and stronger long-term retention.
