Why I do this work
When I was a little girl, my biological mother lost my sister and me six months after my baby brother was born. For years, I couldn't understand how a mother could walk away from her children.
Then I had my son, and I experienced postpartum depression myself. My husband was working out of town more than half the time, and I hired a mother's helper, Megan, who became our full-time nanny. That's when I understood: the difference between her story and mine wasn't love. It was access to support.
That's why I founded Hello Nanny!®, to help families build real support the right way, and the Workforce Infrastructure Institute, to push for a system that gives every mother real options.
