At Hello Nanny!, we know that raising a family takes more than love—it takes a village. That’s why we’ve built ours: Hello Nanny!’s Expert Village.

This curated network of trusted professionals—spanning child development, family wellness, mental health, education, and more—exists to help parents and caregivers navigate the complexities of modern family life with confidence.

We’re thrilled to spotlight our community of experts, sharing their story, their work, and the insights that inspire them. Because behind every great caregiver or parent is a team of people who make the journey a little easier. And, we’re here to make sure you never walk it alone.

We recently chatted with Angela Tait, founder of Tait Consulting and a human capital strategist with over a decade of experience helping organizations build strong teams, develop leaders, and create healthy workplace cultures.

Angela provides guidance on topics such as onboarding a new nanny, establishing clear expectations, navigating communication, and implementing simple check-ins to ensure both families and caregivers feel supported.

Angela is also a bestselling author of Taking the Plunge and The Human Capital Playbook and regularly advises organizations on hiring, leadership, and workplace culture.

Name and occupation:
Angela Tait, founder of Tait Consulting and a human capital strategist.

Do you have kids? If so, how old are they?
Yes, 2 boys: 4 & 6 years old.

Tell us about your company/current role:
My company empowers business owners and leaders to stay in their zone of genius by providing support across hiring, training, and executive coaching. We act as an extension of their team, helping them build high-performing organizations without getting pulled into the day-to-day people challenges.

Go-to coffee (or tea) order:
Honey Oat Latte

How would your kids describe you?
They would probably say I’m loving, fun, and always busy, but that I show up for them.

I think they’d describe me as someone who cares deeply, creates structure, but also makes space for play, connection, and being present together.

They’d probably say, “Mom helps people hire people and fix problems at work.”

Which is pretty accurate. I’m a headhunter and business consultant, but really, I help leaders build teams and companies where people feel valued and want to show up.

Any family traditions?
We go on a trip to Colorado every year with my parents and sometimes my siblings and their kids to connect, play in the snow, and ski.

What piece of parenting advice has actually worked for your family?
Get curious and ask questions to learn how my kids see the world and interrupt situations. Give yourself grace and know that if you care, you are doing a great job as a parent.

Also, consistency over perfection.

There are days when everything flows and days when it doesn’t,but what matters most is continuing to show up with intention. The routines, the conversations, the small moments of connection those are what really shape trust and stability over time.

What is a common piece of advice you disagree with?
A common piece of advice I disagree with is the idea of “balance.”

I think it creates unrealistic expectations that everything should feel equal all the time. Instead, I look at it through a lens of cost versus gain and intentional time. Some days I’m more present with my kids, and other days work requires more of me and that’s okay.

What matters most is being intentional. Even if it’s 20 minutes of fully present, undistracted time, that connection goes further than trying to split yourself evenly across everything. Different seasons require different priorities, and I’ve learned to give myself permission to adjust with that.

3 things you never leave the house without:
Water, phone and lipgloss

What does your support system look like?
My support system is something I’ve had to intentionally build.

My family doesn’t live close, so we rely heavily on schools, childcare, and babysitters for day-to-day support. When we can, my mom will come out to help so my husband and I can get away for a trip, or we’ll go visit family in California.

On the professional side, I’ve built support into my business by hiring the right people and investing in systems that help streamline workflow and track key metrics. That allows me to stay focused on high-impact work instead of getting pulled into everything.

It’s not a perfect system, but it’s one we’ve been very intentional about creating so that both my family and my business can function and grow.

How has your current professional role shaped your approach to parenting and your life outside of work?
My role has reinforced three things for me: patience, presence, and perseverance.

Patience in understanding that not everything needs an immediate solution, whether it’s a team member navigating growth or my kids learning something new.

Presence in being fully engaged, because I’ve seen how much impact intentional attention has at work and at home.

And perseverance in continuing to show up, even on the hard days, knowing that consistency is what builds trust, performance, and strong relationships in both spaces.

Last thing you did solely for yourself:
Got a massage, spent time outside feeling the sunshine on my face, took a hot shower, and went to a yoga class.

Small things, but they help me reset and show up better in every area of my life.

If you had a magic wand to make one parenting challenge disappear, what would it be?
If I had a magic wand, it would be for a house that’s always clean and organized.

Not just for the aesthetics, but because it would remove so much of the mental load and create more space to focus on what really matters.
